The Russian River is a summer resort surrounded by hundreds of wineries in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. The Russian River is popular for canoeing, fishing, tubing, river activities,
fishing, beaches, camping and just plain old fun. The main resort towns
on the river
are Guerneville and Healdsburg, however,
Santa Rosa,
Sebastopol,
Monte Rio,
Windsor and can't be left out. The Russian River has been a
hot spot since the early 1970s for popular family fun, wine tasting,
great
restaurants, and outdoor enthusiasts. By far, the most loved and romantic lodging in the Russian
River area are Bed and Breakfasts. All Bed and Breakfast
have common amenities but each has something special to offer,
such as, bathrobes, soaps, shampoo, body lotion, bath gel,
hairdryer, full breakfast, fireplace, pool, therapeutic hot tub,
massage, air conditioning, wine reception, tv/vcr/dvd/free WiFi,
spa tubs, sauna, private balcony, private bathroom, king size
beds, quiet surroundings, phones, barbeque area.... Windsor/Russian River is a year-round fishery.
Summertime is the best time to fish for Smallmouth and
Largemouth Bass, Catfish and Bluegill. Small Steelhead begin
their run in September, with the larger Steelhead making their
way in November up to the end of April. The best Shad fishing
starts in April and continues thru June. Catfish are good
fishing at this time as well. The Russian River can be fished
from the shore, wading in, or by boat. Motor boats are
allowed but most fisherman use a canoe or a kayak. |
